All trees have specific limitations and in some cases unlimited growth potentials. Planting any random tree will not always do. Enter Bruce Lindsay and his wealth of tree knowledge, now channeled into this easy-to-use website.
While earning his BS in Horticulture from the University of Connecticut, Bruce gained a strong interest in the science and hands-on work associated with trees. After graduating in 1996, he worked at nurseries and landscape design firms, then branched out on his own in 2000, and has helmed Connecticut's Nutmeg Landscape & Design since 2003 (www.NutmegLandscape.com). Bruce is known as a "Human Tree Wikipedia" for his on-the-spot knowledge of tree species, bark, soil, growing cycles, and everything else related to trees!
Now it's time to share that knowledge and embark on a greater mission to help the environment by making it easier for people to add more trees to the world. Bruce's vision for DigTrees.com encompasses choosing the right tree for the application, supplying healthy trees and ensuring they're planted correctly, and providing ongoing care guidance.
"There is nothing quite as simple and beautiful as a tree, their majesty and how magnificently they exist around us. Trees hold many keys to our future," Bruce explains. "A robust tree canopy provides oxygen, absorbs carbon dioxide, filters water, saves energy by cooling our homes and buildings, and provides habitats for birds and animals. Both awe-inspiring and commonplace, trees are a beautiful natural resource."
